eco’s web­site is now back up, and team regis­tra­tions will resume on feb­ruary 10^th, 2010 as per their website:

Since we lost ALL of our regis­tra­tion data unfor­tu­nately, we will be reopening signups for both 1.6 and CSS on Wed­nesday, Feb­ruary 10. All teams that made main for both leagues WILL be moved up. We are also con­tacting each team to make sure that they are going to be par­ti­cip­ating in Season 2. If we don’t hear back from you, you will be removed from main and your spot will be real­loc­ated in some form or another to an active team. How they will be real­loc­ated has yet to be decided. When we have more inform­a­tion on that, we will pass it on to you. Another thing to note is that we will be syncing the sea­sons for 1.6 and source so that they start around the same time.

I want to make some­thing very clear though: ECO will come back up – very soon…most likely before Monday. Now, we would feel priv­ileged and honored if people decide to keep playing in this league. eco-​league is in zombie mode

eco-​league, the league that is sup­posed to be the spir­itual suc­cessor to cal, is having a little bit of tech­nical dif­fi­culties right now, but as far as anyone knows, the league is not dead and until there is an offi­cial announce­ment on either their web­site or their irc channel (#eco-​league on irc​.gamesurge​.net), just stay patient.

like its inaug­ural season last year, eco-​league seems to be having a lot of tech­nical issues with their data­basing. you can ima­gine going from 0 to 1000 teams across 3 or 4 games will stress out any server, espe­cially con­sid­ering that the tech­no­lo­gies that eco-​league wants to intro­duce for the gamers and their respective teams is untested and they are doing the best they can on a trial-​and-​error basis.

i think the people behind eco-​league have shown a lot of per­sever­ance con­sid­ering everything they have faced during their launch, so i would be sur­prised if they decided to call it quits. if anyone remem­bers the first season and how long it took to get this going, this 2^nd second is no excep­tion. lots of bugs still need to be worked out, but once the first season got underway, it was gen­er­ally con­sidered a suc­cess (suc­cessful enough to con­tinue onto a 2^nd season, at any rate).

hope­fully you guys will stop googling about the fate of eco-​league and simply just wait it out. we’re not an offi­cial source, but we’ll keep you up to date if any­thing changes in irc.
