in a shocking move that came ten years too late, troy duffy actually managed to finish the sequel to his cult classic, boondock saints. unfortunately, boondock saints 2 only made $10 million dollars in theatres. i am going to add to the misery by linking a (good quality) streaming copy of it here.
if you have bad taste in movies and have never seen the original, this is all you have to know: two irish brothers get mind-raped by god — the old testament unrepentant asshole version of god — and go on a killing spree, murdering the shit out of russians and italians and other cultural minorities because god is a closet racist. along the way, a cat gets fucking owned, and willem dafoe has an awesome scene that’s taken right out of platoon. because they are irish, their dad is an alcoholic psychopath (and possibly a cannibal), but the brothers are somewhat well-adjusted even though they’re totally okay killing everyone. in essence, this family-friendly, action-adventure romp is all about old-fashioned american values.

first one of 2010. anthemic indie rock, electro cuties, cinematic balladeering, progressive guitar riffs, moderately uptempo stuff. included is this pretty incredible song by a band from australia called ‘the temper trap’. you’ve heard it before if you watched 500 days of summer. also features a band from just outside of my hometown, hollerado.
name of the tape is inspired by my favourite shutdown line in my girl-chasing career.
she’s got standards
1. the kooks — love it all (2:51)
2. chew lips — slick (4:41)
3. the temper trap — sweet disposition (3:54)
4. crystal castles — untrust us (3:06)
5. yelle — je veux te voir (4:21)
6. uh huh her — explode (2:50)
7. blood red shoes — it’s getting boring by the sea (2:56)
8. one night only — just for tonight (4:18)
9. hollerado — juliette (3:06)
10. the rifles — the great escape (3:29)
11. the last shadow puppets — my mistakes were made for you (3:04)

artist: massive attackthere was once a time, back in the early 90s, that bristol england was the hotbed of the best new electronic music. acts involved were some of the biggest and most legendary names out there: portishead, tricky, roni size, smith & mighty, way out west, the wild bunch, and of course, massive attack. the sound was delicately textured, layered with ground-rippling bass, effervescent vocalists, for the appletini-sipping lounge crowds and coke-snorting dancefloor doucebags alike. it was the golden age of british turntablists that spawned an entire genre that we now call “trip-hop”.

firefox used to be the fastest. now, firefox has dropped the ball. resting on its laurels as the internet explorer-killer for its security and efficiency, firefox has become bloated over the years. sure, the security and web standards are still there, but with a fast-growing, internet savvy public, people are no longer settling for whatever they can get their hands on. nowadays, there is a browser for everyone. and in terms of speed, an advertising cornerstone that firefox used so well over the years to gain its significant 25% market share, firefox is finding itself the fat kid in the race. by a significant margin. aside from a mature and well-developed extensions library, it is becoming apparent that there is little that firefox has over the competition nowadays.
